Introduction

Warfighter Directorate is comprised of the Office of the Deputy Director and two divisions, each with their own branches and teams. It also houses a U.S. Special Operations Command chartered program management office. Overall, the directorate partners with numerous Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, industry, academia and the international community to achieve mission success. WD operates over 70 laboratories and testing facilities.
  • Office of the Deputy Director assists the Director in the planning, organizing, directing, and integrating of a major NSRDEC mission area involving the execution of research, development, and engineering for the Army and other services.

  • Program Manager Special Operations Forces - Survival, Support and Equipment Systems (PM SOF-SSES) is a United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) chartered program management office. (PMO) PM SOF-SSES is responsible for providing the overall management, direction, and guidance for the planning, development, acquisition, testing, sustainment and product improvement efforts for the USSOCOM Survival, Support, and Equipment System program.

  • The Science, Technology and Innovation Division (STID) is responsible for NSRDEC's underlying science and technology program in human sciences; materials science; chemical and biosciences; textiles and fiber science (initial textile patterns and prototypes, small scale fiber production, support of first article/acceptance testing, standards development); and Soldier and Small Unit system modeling, analysis evaluation, and consumer feedback. The division includes four branches: Materials Science and Engineering, Human Science and Engineering, Design, Test and Analysis, and the Emerging Concepts and Technology Activity.

  • The Systems, Engineering and Integration Division (SEID) is responsible for the development and integration of hardware for field experimentation and test, evaluates integrated technologies in a realistic operating environment and focuses on engineering and manufacturing development. It provides matrixed engineering support to Army and Marine Corps product managers. Branches include: Mission Equipment and Systems, Warfighter Protection, and the Technology/Capability Integration Team.
